The Alpha And Omega

Jesus said, "...if any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all", Mark 9:35.
The word first is translated from the Greek word protus[4413] which means first (chronologically or in order of importance). The word last was translated from the Greek word eschatos[2078] which means last (of the series).

This brings to mind the scripture, "And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit", I Corinthians 15:45.
The Word declares, "The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven", I Corinthians 15:47.
The conclusion we arrive at is that Jesus is the second Adam and the last of the series.

But Jesus declares, "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending..."(Revelations 1:8), & "I am Alpha and Omega, the first & the last..."(Revelation 1:11). We know that Jesus is the last of the series, and the only one of His kind, so how is He also the first?

"The first man Adam was made a living soul", refers to the scripture found in Genesis 2:7. "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life: and man became a living soul." : breath:neshamah[5391], life:khahee[2416], man:adam[120], be:hayah[1961], living:khahee[2416], soul(breathing creature):nephesh[5315] - translated from the Hebrew, flesh hear intelligently obey, live adam, be living soul(breathing creature). These words spoken by Jehovah-elohim & the formed clay lived. Jehovah-elohim breathed life into Adam with the commands which made man a new & unique creation.

When GOD created man, He created in him something that no other creature was given because GOD created man in His own image. This something extra is expressed in the Hebrew word neshamah.
|
|
|
The animals of the earth are alive and many are breathing creatures. This is expressed in the word nephesh[5315]. But man also received the spirit of neshamah[5391].
|
|
|
These words were spoken by the LORD Himself when He breathed the spirit of life into Adam. I believe this is the commandment that Jesus fulfilled. It was His original commandment to man(adam) in his creation and the commandment that superceded all others. That man would hear and obey the voice of the LORD; thereby, doing the will of GOD. And so:

The word "neshamah" has been translated as breath and spirit but this does not adequately convey the meaning of the word, for this word is the key to our creation and the work that Jesus came to finish.
If you break the word down, the first part in Hebrew is na:
The word na[4994] means I pray thee
and/or
The word na[4995] means flesh.
The second part is the Hebrew word shamah:
The word shamah[8085] means to hear intelligently and obey.
And so at our creation Jehovah-elohim breathed life into Adam with the command, "I pray thee flesh hear intelligently obey, live adam, be living soul(breathing creature)", making man GOD-conscious.

"The last man Adam was made a quickening spirit", I Corinthians 15:45: eschato[2078] adam[76] eis[1519] pneuma[4151] zoopoieo[2227] - translated from the Greek: last (of the series) adam(man) into spirit that makes(gives) life.
"And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten[3439] of the Father,) full of grace and truth." John 1:14.
The word only begotten is translated from the Greek word [3439] monogenes, which is a compound word made up of 2 words: mono, which means one & [1085]genos which means kind.
[3439]monogenes, a., one & only, unique, one of a kind.
[1085]genos, n., family, offspring, nation, people native(of a region); classification kind.

The scriptures tell us that, "All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men", John 1:3&4. And Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly", John 10:10.

|
GOD chose Mary to be the mother of Jesus & the Holy Spirit conceived in her womb a child whose Father was GOD. GOD used the form of the first Adam & filled it with the Spirit that gives life; thereby, creating a new creation, the last of the series; and He created only one, Jesus Christ, the only begotten of the Father, the Son of GOD.

"Who being in the form of GOD, thought it not robbery to be equal with God. But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, of the things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father", Philippians 2:6-11.
